EDSIGCON/CONISAR Conferences Chair

As Conference Chair for both the 2015 EDSIG and CONISAR Conferences, it is my great honor to welcome you to the 1st Education Special Interest Group (EDSIG) Conference and the 8th Conference on Information Systems Applied Research (CONISAR) in Wilmington, NC. I and the conference team welcome you to a gathering of IS/CS/IT professionals and educators dedicated to advancing computing education and research. This conference testifies to the continuous dedication of the EDSIG membership since the early 1980’s supporting the full spectrum of computing and information systems education, programs and most importantly, educators.

The EDSIG Conference draws educators from all over the world to share ideas, innovations and strategies including pedagogy, curricula, assessment, and classroom/laboratory/distance education. CONISAR brings academics as well as Information Technology professionals together to explore and assess emerging opportunities and challenges in Information Systems research and practice. The goal of EDSIGCON / CONISAR is to advance computing and IS education through communication and research.

EDSIGCON / CONISAR thrives through the efforts of many individuals. It is my honor and privilege to work with a talented and tireless team, all volunteers. As you participate this weekend, please take the time to meet and thank these individuals working continuously since last November preparing for Wilmington 2015: Eric Breimer, assistant conference chair and webmaster; Peter Wu, CONISAR papers chair; Jeffry Babb, EDSIG papers chair and assistant chair, Neelima Bhatnagar; 'Packy' Laverty, academic workshops; George Nezlek, panels; Muhammed Miah, abstracts; Anthony Serapiglia and Cameron Lawrence, teaching cases; James Pomykalsi, Outreach and Social Media; Tom Janicki, conference meeting planner/coordinator and proceedings publisher. These folks made EDSIGcon/CONISAR 2015 possible. We need your help to continue this good work! Be a part of EDSIG/CONISAR 2016 in Las Vegas by stepping up and volunteering.

We are especially grateful to have the return of our supporters. Special thanks for NetApp, Cameron School of Business at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, EMC Academic Alliance, MyEducator, McGraw-Hill Higher Education, and the IBM Academic Alliance.. Please visit their exhibits and workshops.

Let me not forget to thank you who come to share your scholarship and presentations with the EDSIG and CONISAR community. Your work as authors and reviewers assures the quality and lasting value of the conference through the EDSIGCON/CONISAR proceedings and the Information Systems Education Journal (ISEDJ) and the Journal for Information Systems and Applied Research (JISAR).

If there is anything I or the conference team can do to make your time more rewarding at these 2015 Conferences, don’t hesitate to ask. Welcome and thank you for supporting EDSIGCON / CONISAR!
